From the arts to the artists, The Lounge is KPBS Radio's
look inside San Diego's world of music, spoken word, performance
art, film and just about any other compelling story waiting to be
told.
From live call-in segments, to performances
of all kinds, The Lounge and Host Dirk Sutro are focused
on good conversation. "We're about the color, the people, the
fun, the music ... all the reasons to live in San Diego."
From Cyber-pioneers to pioneering city-dwellers, Dirk Sutro has
lived inside the creative world of architecture and magazine publishing
for nearly 20 years. Sutro was the managing editor of San Diego
Home/Garden Lifestyles magazine from 1983 to 1987, and became the
magazine's top editor shortly thereafter, a position he held for
three years. From 1988 to 1992, he was a Jazz and Architecture writer
for the LA Times. In addition to magazines and newspapers, Sutro
has published two books; West Coast Wave: New California Houses
and most recently Jazz For Dummies.
In the world according to Dirk, music,
art and other creative elements are the basic building blocks of
life. And Dirk Sutro and The Lounge are interested in anyone
or anything that pushes our perceptions, from independent film and
modern dance to poetry slams and performance art. Join The Lounge
every Monday through Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
